About the Church: Before 1692, First Church was Built.1774 , The Church was rebuilt. On March 5,1874 the church was Damaged by a Typhoon. On January 17,1875 the Church’s Transept was Toppled during the Typhoon. In 1884 the Present Church was built under direction of Father Jose Beloso. In 1997 the Santa Monica Church was declared a National Historical Landmark

My Thoughts About the Church: When I saw Santa Monica church i was awed by its massiveness. When i went inside i was wowed. Seeing Old Retablos always amazes me. It is such a joy to see how they were able to preserve their Antique Retablos and Antique Santos. After looking at the Interiors of the Church we then went to the Bell. The Bell is massive and impressive.

Architectural Style of the Church: The Santa Monica Church’s Architectural Style is an Excellent Example of Filipino Colonial Baroque blending well with Neo Classical Influence.

How to Get to Santa Monica Church: Roxas City is serviced by Philippine Airlines and Cebu Pacific. It is just a 1 Hour Plane Ride. From Roxas City you can take the Jeepney which goes to Pan-ay. You can also ask the Tricycle Driver to bring you to Pan-ay which is 11 Kilometers from Roxas or 20 minutes travel time. The Tricycle driver quoted P80 for 1 Way and P100 for a Round-Trip.

About the Church: Before 1698 , The Church was first built. On January 4,1698 the Church was destroyed by a Typhoon. In 1728-1732 the Church was rebuilt. In 1787 the Church was damaged during an Earthquake. In 1870-1885 the Church was rebuilt.

How To Get to Immaculate Conception Cathedral: The Immaculate Conception Metropolitan Cathedral is located in the Center of Roxas City. Jeepneys pass by the Cathedral. Or take a Tricycle going to the Cathedral (P8.00 within the City a Person)

How to get to St Thomas of Villanueva Church

Roxas City is serviced by PAL and Cebu Pac. It is a 1 Hour Plane Ride. From Roxas City one can hire  a Van going to Dao. Or take the Jeep or Tricycle to the Bus Terminal or Ceres Bus Terminal and take the Bus heading to Iloilo and alight at Dao. From Dao take a Tricyle to the Church (Tip: Take Ceres Bus instead of the other buses)

Saint Martin Bishop of Tours Parish Church/ Church of Dumalag (Dumalag, Capiz)

About the Church: 1600-1720 – Records from Manila show that the first Church was contracted during this period. 1873 – Church was rebuilt under Father Angel Abosolo. January 17,1875 – The Church and the Convent were destroyed during a Typhoon. 1883 – Present Church was constructed under Father Agustin Duran

How to get to Saint Martin Bishop of Tours Parish Church: From Capiz City take a Bus going to Iloilo then go down the road that will lead to Dumalag Town. The Crossing is before reaching Dumarao. At the corner of the Crossing take a Tricycle to the Church. For a quicker way, just hire a taxi from Roxas City.

1710-1728 – Church was built under Father Jose Baldo
1873 – Convent was built under Father Eugenio Villalar
January 17,1875 – Church and Convent were considerably damaged during a Typhoon
1880 – Temporary Church built by Father Abundo Garcia and finished under Fathers Francisco Aguirre and Elias Rivate
November 16,2009 – Church was razed by a fire


How to Get to Our Lady of the Snows Parish:

Philippine Airlines and Cebu Pacific service Roxas City daily. To get to the Church you can rent a Van going to Dumarao or for the cheaper way ride a bus (P59 from Roxas City). Dumarao is an hour trip by Bus and when you reach Dumarao just ask the tricycle driver to bring you to the Church.


My Thoughts on Our Lady of the Snows Parish:
When i arrived at the front of the Church I did not know that what was inside was the ruins of the Church. A Fire razed the Church on November 2009 and as of this writing not much has been done to  return the church to its former Glory. Lack of funds obviously prevents this from happening. Souvenirs of the Old Santos which previously adorned the Church can still be seen but they have turned to Charcoal. I hope that the Church will someday be returned to its former Glory.
