About the Church: The Central United Methodist Church is the first Protestant Church in the Country. It was founded on March 5,1899. The Church was started in the present site on December 23,1901. The structure was replaced with a stone church in 1906. It was renovated and became a Cathedral in 1932. The Church was destroyed during the 2nd World War and was rebuilt on December 25,1949. It was named Central Methodist Episcopal Church, then renamed Central Student Church, Central Methodist Church and finally, Central United Methodist Church.
