My Visit to the Chapel: It was only recently that i got to know that inside the La Loma Cemetery “Lives” an Old Chapel. Yesterday (11/25/2013) we went to La Loma after picking up some supplies at nearby Bulusan Street.
Looking for the Chapel is easy as it easily stands out in the Cemetery. When i finally saw the Chapel i was in awe. It was Old, and by the date indicated on the entrance, it was built in 1884. The Chapel is well maintained, the grass around it is trimmed and there are no garbage littered in the Church Vicinity. At the Main door sits 2 White Lions, and on one side of the church is a Statue of the Virgin Mary and on the other a statue of Saint Joseph and the Boy Jesus.
The Chapel was used from 1884-1862, and in those years numerous personalities of note have walked inside the chapel. Don Cayetano Arellano, a Famous Boxer, members of the Ortigas, Balmori, Eduque, Navarro Family are just some of the people buried at La Loma.
Recently, there was some news that the Chapel will be destroyed. If and when that happens, it will be the death of the La Loma Cemetery.
